Lucille" was released in January 1977 as a single from Kenny Rogers' self-titled solo album, recorded in August 1976 at American Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The song reached number one on the Billboard Country Singles chart and number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Rogers won the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1978.
